How it all started

Leslie Batkin founded Bromley Park Hatcheries in 1920 with a small number of pure breeds from which he developed his own commercial layer lines which led to the formation of Bromley Park Limited in 1950.

The company started importing Shaver layers and meat strains in 1972. After several successful decades of producing a Starbro meat strain, Bromley Park introduced Cobb meat breeders in 1990 to meet market demand for a leaner product with superior feed conversion.

The next few years saw the acquisition of Southern Chicks Limited in Christchurch and Riverland Poultry Limited in Tuakau, south of Auckland.

In 1994, Poultry Veterinary Services (PVS) became a wholly owned subsidiary of Bromley Park Group. PVS is operated as an independent business unit to provide technical support and diagnostic laboratory facilities to the poultry industry throughout New Zealand and the Pacific.

A state of the art quarantine hatchery and farm was commissioned in Pukekawa in 2002. With existing hatcheries in Christchurch and Tuakau, Bromley Park Group remains a New Zealand family-owned business and is a leader in the industry as a major supplier of Cobb and Shaver breeds throughout New Zealand, Pacific Islands, Asia and the Middle East.
